Biography

Dr. Namrata Chhabra is a distinguished medical professional and academician with an impressive career spanning 38 years, specializing in Medical Education, Clinical Practice, Biochemistry, Laboratory Management, and Research. She completed her MBBS and MD in Medical Biochemistry at the Government Medical College, Amritsar, Punjab, India. She further expanded her expertise with a Master’s in Health Professions Education (MHPE) from Stellenbosch University, Cape Town, South Africa, and earned a Ph.D. in Medical Biochemistry from Sri Guru Ram Das University of Health Sciences, Amritsar. Her academic distinction is further highlighted by her fellowship at the CMCL-FAIMER, a regional institution connected to the International FAIMER Institute in Philadelphia, U.S.A.

With a global professional footprint, Dr. Chhabra has served in various capacities in India, Iran, Mauritius, and currently at the American University of Antigua College of Medicine (AUCOM) as a Professor in the Department of Biochemistry, Cell Biology, and Genetics, and the Associate Dean for Academic Affairs. Her career began as a general practitioner, after which she transitioned into academia, notably advancing from an Additional Professor to the Executive Dean at SSR Medical College in Mauritius over 15 years.

As a researcher and author, Dr. Chhabra’s contributions include 50 publications in international peer-reviewed journals, with 210 citations, and authorship of three Biochemistry textbooks. She also manages ‘ourbiochemistry.com,’ an educational website with a significant daily readership. Her extensive experience is also reflected in her editorial and advisory roles in various international peer-reviewed journals.

Dr. Chhabra’s research interests are wide-ranging, encompassing Biomarkers for early risk prediction in Childhood obesity, Diabetes mellitus, Cancers, Ischemic Heart Disease (IHD), Creative Pedagogy, and Professional Identity Formation in medical students. She has supervised and guided over 100 biomedical and academic projects and led numerous workshops on faculty development.
